One great perk to this job is all of the wonderfull people we get to meet throughout the season and the stories of their beading adventures. After meeting Dawn, from my hometown of Charlotte, NC and owner of DaylightDerived, I was inspired to post a SHOUT OUT TO NoDa! NoDa was just beginning to bloom when I was living in Charlotte and attending UNC-Charlotte. I first discovered NoDa when my architecture class was challenged to design a new fire station in the up and comming art district on North Davidson road. The rich History of the North Charlotte neighborhood remains intertwined within the eclectic style it now exudes. NoDa is a collection of artists of many facits that have been working together for nearly 20 years to both preserve the history of the area and push through the norm to a new style of art community. NoDa is a rare find, full of unique artists, musicians, galleries, eateries, wineries and pubs.
If you ever find yourself in the Charlotte area, take a turn down North Davidson road and see for yourself how preserving history has created a beautiful future for what was once one of the poorest neighborhoods in Charlotte.
